Born from racing genes found in the MotoGP KTM RC16, comes the KTM 990 RC R TRACK. All that READY TO RACE energy and knowledge as well as KTM's NEVER STOP thirst to chase the ultimate in motorcycling means the KTM 990 RC R TRACK will make stopwatches brace in anticipation. The bike strips away the street savvy characteristics of the KTM 990 RC R to be one of the quickest, lightest, baddest and most desirable track tools to emerge from dealerships. Whether searching apexes for the first time or discovering fresh possibilities, the KTM 990 RC R TRACK will create a sizeable appetite. Finding out more means finding out your limits. Models go into production from February - April 2026 with KTM 990 RC R CUP customers receiving priority.
MotoGP anyone? The KTM 990 RC R TRACK's form and design is unmistakable. The fairing and aerodynamic profile stems from the lessons learned in Grand Prix for the effects of airflow, downforce and stability and to all the associated benefits for grip and stability. The KTM 990 RC R TRACK has an injected plastic fairing as a more practical solution for swapping-out any crash-damaged sections with a perfect fit every time. New tooling around the belly pan and seat increase security and integration. The windscreen bubble is 2.5 cm (.90 in) higher than the KTM 990 RC R to enable a more comfortable and frequent tuck position.
ADJUSTMENTS FOR THE TRACK
A pure-bred Supersport motorcycle (non-homologated for the street) is waiting for the circuit. Lights, mirrors, side-stand and other street requirements are gone replaced by a high value - but also entry-level friendly - race-ready configuration with low maintenance, easy to repair and detailed dealer support. Protectors for brake lever and the rear aluminum sprocket, quick release fuel cap, wet weather taillight, swingarm paddock bobbins and a paddock stand supplied as standard are more evidence of the KTM 990 RC R TRACK's primary purpose. The injected plastic race-ready fairing and bodywork is designed to allow the appliance of personal decals and graphics.
RACE COCKPIT
The KTM 990 RC R TRACK employs a 4.2" landscape TFT dash for prime track usability and efficient use of space. The unit has anti-glare, anti-fingerprint and anti-reflex coatings for the optically bonded screen with a 65000-color capability. The TFT will show status of three TRACK RIDE Modes, whether the Pit Limiter has been engaged and the operation of the Quickshifter+. Engine brake configuration and all the options provided through the standard inlcuded TRACK PACK are beamed through the innovative display layout and interactive experience. Clarity and functionality are premium attributes.
Building on the KTM 990 RC R's 947 cc, parallel twin DOHC LC8c motor, the TRACK version has boosted numbers to befit its racier status. The KTM 990 RC R range has one of the most compact packages on the market with one of the best power-to-weight ratios. A key component of the performance comes through the full Akrapovic Evolution line exhaust, kitted in stainless steel and weighing just 3 kg (6.6 lb) which hones the 98.2 dB output further. The system permits a five-level engine brake configuration. Straights will feel even shorter, especially with the racing gearbox providing a longer shift from first and a shorter sixth.
TRACK MODES
The KTM 990 RC R TRACK features three customizable RIDE Modes labeled Track 1, Track 2, and Track 3. Riders can set up their bike to maximize tire performance, power delivery, and fuel usage for varying track session demands, and then easily switch between them. The modes include settings for: Throttle Response (Smooth, Linear, Aggressive), Motorcycle Traction Control slip adjustment (0-9), six Anti-Wheelie Mode levels (from Very Low to Very High to Off), Launch Control, and Engine Brake. For more detailed information about these features, consult the KTM TECH BIBLE.
ELECTRONIC BUZZ
The racetrack is no home for ABS or Cruise Control but the 6D IMU (inertia measurement unit) helps for the lean angle sensor and therefore engageable Motorcycle Traction Control, the Quickshifter+ and other RIDE Modes that can enhance performance potential. The Connectivity Unit (no phone calls necessary during a rapid qualifier!) has been withdrawn and the wiring harness simplified. As a result, the whole electronics system weighs 2 kg (4.4 lb) less than the KTM 990 RC R.
Getting to the point to allow you to the point of the apex. The KTM 990 RC R TRACK's ergonomics have been 'sharpened' with a flatter, angled seat, optimum contact surfaces and adjustable footpegs. The 15.7 l (4.14 gal) tank has been sculpted through repeated tests and feedback from elite racers and to maximize the possibilities of the '6 contact points'. The rider can pivot around the motorcycle to exert control through legs, knees and arms, and scythe through the tightest network of corners at will. The redesigned, machined, black aluminum clip-on handlebars are fixed 10 mm lower on the triple clamp and 3 degrees downwards. Count on adjustable levers (+ or - 6 degrees) while the footpegs have been moved 25 mm up and can adjust higher through 6 different settings. The gear shifter can be reversed with a simple change of the screw connection point.
Seat
More MotoGP genes can be spotted through the KTM 990 RC R TRACK's flatter seat and the formation with the fairing and Supersport aesthetic. The race bike is better integrated with the plastic fairing thanks to rounder surfaces and redefined edges to permit the rider to dart around the motorcycle with assured urgency and increased freedom. Ergonomics have been tweaked for the primary role of positioning for speed. The seat height has crept up to 857 mm (33.7 in) to suit this 'attack' poise.
How big is your dime? The KTM 990 RC R TRACK's set-up will haul the fast-show to a razor point stop. The hardware is courtesy of industry-leaders Brembo with their HyPure equipment. The calipers are the next generation of the 4-piston engineering, meaning a more linear feel, a constant pressure point, less lever pull, and better modulation. The system surrounds two highly resilient 320 mm Brembo discs and a single piston unit will grab a 240 mm Galfer rear disc. Importantly, by removing the ABS modulator for a direct braking line (between cylinder and calipers) the sensation for the KTM 990 RC R TRACK receives a big upgrade and is also more track-ready in terms of servicing and convenience.
Chassis
The KTM 990 RC R TRACK's chassis geometry is fixed accordingly with an emphasis of 52.5% to 47.5% front/rear weight distribution. The offset is measured at 33 mm with a steering angle at 25 degrees for improved steering sensation and a planted front end. The aluminum diecast swingarm - with a minimalistic linkage swingarm construction mechanism - brings increased flex for increased stability, and manageability across track bumps for this 170 kg/374.7 lb (dry weight) rocket. An adjustable steering damper is also mounted for peak control through the quickest racing lines.
FORKS
Confidence and belief in the front end is the basis for commitment to any curve. Rising to the task is a 48 mm WP APEX Open Cartridge upside-down fork. The unit has been modified based on many testing laps around some of the most prominent motorsport circuits in Europe. No compromise has been made in the search of the best track capability of the hardware. Each fork is surrounded by freshly designed 33 mm black anodized triple clamps for high-performance maneuvers. The forks are fully adjustable, with 30 clicks for both compression and rebound and 6 mm of preload. A full set of WP PRO COMPONENTS are available for the rider who needs those extra tenths when chaing lap times.
